Throughout the years I have gone through many different concealers trying to find the perfect one that would cover my hereditary dark circles completely, but I've realised that it just doesn't exist! Or at least if it has, I certainly haven't found it, so I thought I'd do a post about the current concealers I have in case anyone else is having the same problem as me.
I know there are six different products pictured above but I don't use them all, on an everyday basis I use two of them to cover the darkness around my eyes. The one I use first is the Seventeen Phwoar Paint under eye concealer in the colour fair, it has a salmon tone to it which is good for counteracting darkness and the formula of it is quite thick so I find it's best to pat it on with your fingers concentrating on the inner half. You really don't want to put too much of this product on as it can look cakey if it's built up too much so after applying a small amount of this I go directly over it with the Maybelline Anti-age Eraser Eye concealer. As well as adding more coverage, this concealer helps to match the colour of your under eyes back to the colour of the rest of your face as the seventeen concealer is quite pale.
After doing this, my dark circles do still show slightly so I go in with another layer of the Maybelline concealer. One of the best things about this concealer is that you can really layer this up without it caking or looking heavy so I think it's great if you have dark circles like me because we all know they take a lot of covering! I've sort of settled into this concealer routine most of the time but sometimes I do try to use a few of these other products, I've found that the Makeup Academy Pro Base concealer palette has turned out to be very well used, the variety of shades means that you can really diversify the shades you need, and I find the green shade good to cover any red angry spots with before neutralising it with a skin toned concealer.
I bought the Max Factor Colour Corrector stick in the yellow shade thinking it would cancel out any darkness, but I was quite disappointed with it as it feels a bit chalky and it really doesn't do much concealing, it's also hard to blend another product on top of this which is a shame as I expected it to do much more. It was also the most expensive product in this list costing £9.99 so I won't be buying this again. Another product that I found disappointing was the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer and highlighter, I feel like it should just have been labelled as highlighter as it didn't give me much coverage, and if you're like me and need to use quite a bit of concealer you'll get through this tube very quickly.
Finally on the list is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer which I got after hearing good reviews about it, I started off using this for my dark circles but soon realised that it works better as a face highlight to lighten up areas and give them a bit of coverage, but it didn't work too well under my eyes! I wouldn't recommend this as a concealer if you have very dark circles, but I would recommend it for use around other areas of the face so I would buy this product again.
I'm sure I'll be out looking for new concealers soon but for now this is what I've got, I'm always on the lookout for something new so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears!
