Summer Beauty Essentials

Hello, summer can be a tricky time when it comes to makeup, you don't want anything too heavy on the skin, it's hot, and you need your makeup to stay put without much effort. I know that for myself, having an oily T-zone can be difficult enough in winter, let alone when it's humid, so I've found that I've been reaching for a few particular products to try and combat this.

Now, this isn't a 'five product face' post or a routine, it's just a few products that I wanted to talk about and kind of review. Firstly is the Max Factor Facefinity Primer, I wasn't sure what to expect with this primer because I'd heard many different reviews on it but for me it seems to be a good addition to my makeup routine. I apply it after my moisturiser just using my fingertips all around my face, concentrating on my T-zone, and give it a few moments to sink in before moving on to my base.

I've really been reaching for my Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude lately as it's a liquid to powder foundation and so I find it doesn't make my skin as oily as a regular liquid foundation. It's quite a lightweight and light coverage product, which is definitely preferred for me, but could easily be built up to medium/ heavy coverage. The only thing that I did find a bit confusing was that I had to get the lightest shade, Ivory, even though I'm not particularly fair skinned. I don't think that any very light skinned girls (or boys) would be able to find a shade to suit them, but this might vary in different countries.

I bought this Rimmel BB Cream after seeing a Youtuber try it and in retrospect I should have realised that the fact that it had 'radiance' in the title suggested that it probably wouldn't be good for my oily areas. I really wouldn't suggest this for anyone with oily skin as it accentuates this issue even more, plus that fact that it only comes in two shades, light and medium. I won't be repurchasing this but maybe if you have dry skin it would work for you, and due to the limited colour range it limits the chances of you even being able to get a match.

I had never bought a loose powder up until a few weeks ago and I thought I really should try one as everyone seems to rave about theirs, and I have to say I'm glad I did! I've found that the main difference between loose and pressed powder is that with the loose, you get a more airbrushed finish and it feels and looks lighter on the skin. Because I wasn't sure how my skin would react to loose powder I didn't want to spend lots of money on something straight away, so I decided to start with this Collection Sheer Loose Powder (which I would link if I could find it online!). I only use it on my T-zone as I don't get oily anywhere else and it definitely keeps the oil at bay for a lot longer than without. I would really recommend this to anyone looking to try out loose powder for the first time as it's completely inexpensive and does what I want.

Finally is this blush brick which I got from Next, I was drawn to it because of the fact that it has shimmer already in it so it highlights as well as adding colour to the cheeks, and we all know that two in one products are great at saving time in the mornings! It's quite a subtle shade which I prefer as it looks much more natural, but you do have to be careful not to put too much on as with the highlighter it can make your cheeks look too dewy if you're not light-handed with it.

I hope this has helped with anyone wondering about whether or not these products are for them,

Gabrielle
