I've made no secret of the fact that I have oily skin but I feel the need to let everyone know about the breakthrough I've recently made in the fight against oiliness! I've only just started to use a primer because I wasn't sure what they were meant to be used for but I heard good things about the Max Factor Facefinity Primer and decided to pick it up, I think a primer is a must for combatting oiliness because it's the first step of prevention and this particular one seems to work well for me.
For my everyday base I like to use something lightweight and I recently purchased both the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream and the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream for oily skin. After I tried the Bourjois cream I realised that the shade I'd bought (light beige) was a little too dark so I decided to mix it with the Maybelline cream to colour match it and I've been really impressed with how both of these products work on my skin. They don't have an excessively radiant finish but they do leave a little bit of a dewy look which worried me at first as I thought that after a few hours it would look completely shiny but after I set them with my powder I was really impressed with how they held up throughout the day.
The powder I'm absolutely loving lately, and a new discovery for me is the Soap and Glory One Heck Of A Blot powder which comes in a universal translucent shade. It costs £12 so it might not be first on everyone's list to try out but you really need to give it a go! As soon as I put this on, my face feels and looks soft and non-shiny, but it doesn't make me look powdery. When I'm fist applying my makeup I use the So Eco powder brush to dab and sweep this across my face but throughout the day the compact that comes in the case can be used to blot any shiny areas really effectively and it never cakes up. The fact that it comes with a compact and a mirror in the packaging means that it's perfect to take with you when you're on the go and you don't need to bring a separate brush.
These are the steps I'm taking at the moment to combat my oily skin and they're working out well for now so I'd recommend anyone with similar concerns to go out and purchase either these products or products that produce a similar effect for you as they're really simple and effective which, for me, is what makeup is all about!
